The Confederate flag ceased to fly on April 9, 1865 and flew again in 1956 in opposition to Brown v. Board of Education. The Civil War was fought over slavery. When the South surrendered, the flag came down. The South then had Jim Crow laws in place, until the U. S. Supreme Court ruled to end segregation in public schools.
As a sign of opposition, the Confederate flag was raised for the first time in nearly a century and has flown ever since.
It is not and never has stood for anything other than pro-slavery and subsequently anti-desegregation.
I HATE when people rewrite history because the revisionist history is nothing but fiction. History is important because we can learn from it; however, what lessons are learned from fake history?
